Wherever possible line drawing illustrations of representatives of each family are included in both printed Volumes and the online accounts. These show habit and relevant details of vegetative and floral parts in order to aid identification. Authors are asked to nominate species (and features) for illustration on the following priority basis
Illustrations take the form of composite plates depicting several taxa. Where possible, authors should consider selecting one species for full illustration and representing some if not most of the remaining taxa only by those parts which differ significantly from the full illustration or which offer the greatest diagnostic value. Figures showing diagnostic features such as leaf or corolla shapes may also be included as text figures.
